As announced in June 2021, MASS Design Group, a global design collective dedicated to delivering architecture that promotes justice and human dignity, has been engaged by the Sisters of Charity Foundation of Cleveland to create a Health Campus that provides care for the whole person. In the Central Neighborhood, the Health Campus will build on the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine’s 170-year legacy of healing by bringing new services to the community that address the social determinants of health.

A Health Campus is designed to purposefully attract diverse community partners who will co-locate services on one campus to complement traditional health care services and collectively improve health outcomes of the people served.

  • The design of this Health Campus will build out the changing footprint of St. Vincent Charity Medical Center, which was once exclusively an acute care hospital, into a campus promoting holistic wellness.
  • It will be designed to address health disparities and improve health outcomes by offering additional services beyond health care to address the Social Determinants of Health.
  • The Health Campus will be located on property owned by the Sisters of Charity at East 22nd Street and serve as a catalyst for economic revitalization in the surrounding area.
