Regina Health Center undertakes major renewal project with generous donor support

Regina Health Center, a 5-star-quality skilled nursing and assisted living facility in Richfield that serves Northeast Ohio, celebrated its 25th anniversary last year. The highlight of the anniversary celebrations was a gala event in September, where a $1 million matching gift initiative was announced to raise funds for a 25th anniversary renovation campaign.

With the help of generous donors, Regina Health Center kicked off the renovation project on January 2 to update and beautify all resident rooms and resident gathering spaces in the nursing home portion of the facility.

The project involves updating resident rooms with new beds, dressers, window treatments,

LED lighting fixtures, flooring and fresh paint, as well as renovating the dining and common living areas with new tables, chairs, paint, lighting and flooring, and updating and upgrading the rehabilitation unit and nursing stations.

“This is an exciting time of rejuvenation and renewal at Regina Health Center. We’re thrilled to start work on the largest facility renovation in our 25-year history. The singular focus of this renovation is to enhance the quality of life for residents so we can continue providing compassionate, exceptional care in a beautiful, comfortable home. That’s why we are focusing solely on resident living and gathering spaces,” said Mark Yantek, executive director of Regina Health Center.

To limit interruptions to resident life as much as possible, the project is happening over the course of 18 months as the construction crew works on small blocks of rooms at a time.

The Matching Gift Initiative matches dollar-for-dollar all gifts of $100 or more contributed toward the 25th Anniversary Renovation Campaign until $1 Million in the matching gift fund is reached.

Katie and Charles (Bud) Koch made the lead gift of $500,000 to the Matching Gift Initiative, with $100,000 donations from Drs. Elizabeth McIntyre and Joseph Sopko; the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine; the Ursuline Sisters of Cleveland; the Sisters of Charity Foundation of Cleveland; and an anonymous donor. There have also been several other generous donations toward the project cost of $2.5 million.
